Originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Hannah Nickel grew up surrounded by music. Her parents fueled her interest and love of the arts being musicians and singers themselves, and supported her through years of various extra curricular activities. Hannah's love of singing and performing lead her to pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree in music. She has performed in numerous concerts and operas throughout her singing career, most recently with Pacific Opera Victoria in the opera Ainadamar. A selection of operatic roles which Hannah is most proud of include the titular role in Suor Angelica and Pitti-Sing in The Mikado (Western Opera), Marianne in Tartuffe (Opera NUOVA), Cathleen in Riders to the Sea, and Lucy Lockit in The Beggar's Opera (University of Lethbridge). Currently, Hannah is music directing for a production of Footloose with the Sooke Harbour Players in May, and is looking forward to singing the part of Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with the Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society in June. Aside from singing, Hannah also enjoys going to the gym or spin class, swimming, and coaching a recreational synchronized swim team in Sooke!
